How heartbreaking is it to hear about a dog being neglected and facing euthanasia? Sadly, this is the harsh reality for countless dogs abandoned in shelters across the country, often through no fault of their own. One such case occurred in California, where a small, one-year-old dog named Reese found herself on the brink of a tragic end. Emaciated and severely neglected, Reese was taken to an overcrowded shelter, where she was just days away from being euthanized.

Terrified and shut down emotionally, Reese had lost trust in people. All she wanted was for someone to show her the love and care she had been missing her entire life. Thankfully, that chance came when the compassionate team at Wags and Walks Rescue in Los Angeles stepped in just in time. CONTINUE BELOW

Rescuers were devastated to see the state Reese was in. Despite being so young, her malnourished frame and advanced mange made her appear much older. Her body was covered in painful sores, and she also had an infected puncture wound near her eye from an old bite. But despite her suffering, there was hope—Wags and Walks was determined to give Reese a new life.

Her story took a positive turn when the rescue team found her a wonderful foster home. A kind couple, Walker and Rebecca, opened their hearts and welcomed Reese into their family. Thanks to the generosity of the rescue’s supporters, who helped fund her recovery, Reese’s health began to improve rapidly. “She’s safe with us now, and we’re overjoyed to see her healing and gaining strength. Thanks to our amazing community, Reese is well on her way to a full recovery!” the rescue shared in an Instagram post. CONTINUE BELOW

As Reese regained her health, her playful personality began to emerge. To everyone’s delight, she turned into an unexpected fashion star! Initially, her foster parents dressed her in pajamas to help protect her skin as it healed, but Reese quickly embraced her new look. Her stylish outfits, supplied by Walker and Rebecca, became a charming part of her recovery, and she looked absolutely adorable in every one of them!

In addition to her newfound sense of style, Reese also became a snuggly companion, always eager to curl up in her foster parents’ laps for cuddles—something she had never experienced before. CONTINUE BELOW

Just a few months after being rescued, Reese received the ultimate gift: a forever home. A loving family reached out to Wags and Walks, eager to welcome Reese into their lives. The rescue shared the joyful news with Reese’s growing community of supporters, writing, “Tonight, Reese is in her forever home, surrounded by a family who adores her as much as she deserves.”

Now, Reese is living her best life, complete with loving humans and a dog sibling by her side. She’s enjoying adventures and, of course, still showing off her fashionable outfits. Most importantly, she’ll never have to worry about being abandoned again.
