Heartbroken Dog Almost Put Down Because She Barked At Another Dog

Moose’s story is a heartwarming testament to the incredible transformations shelter dogs can undergo.

With a bullet lodged in her lung and a rough start in life, this sweet Pittie had one clear goal—to become everyone’s best friend. Unfortunately, Moose was on the brink of being euthanized due to a behavioral issue—a simple bark at another dog. But fate had a different plan when Micky came across her story just in time. WATCH BELOW

Moose was scheduled for euthanasia the day before Micky found out about her. Without hesitation, Micky applied to adopt her, and Moose was soon on a bus from Houston, Texas, making the journey to meet her new owner in Virginia after five days.

Micky was deeply saddened to learn that Moose’s label as “behavioral euthanasia” stemmed from something as minor as barking at another dog. Additionally, Moose had suffered more than most dogs should have to—she had been shot, had heartworms which were treated, and had endured an abortion. Despite these traumas, Moose’s spirit remained unbroken. WATCH BELOW

Micky was determined to give Moose a new beginning. She was astonished by Moose’s resilience and sweet nature, which seemed to defy the harsh circumstances of her early life. Moose was not only well-behaved but also showed signs of having had a previous owner, being already potty trained and familiar with household norms.

Seeing Moose’s potential and kind temperament, Micky decided to train her as a therapy dog. Given her intuitive nature, Moose was a perfect candidate for helping Micky, who has mobility issues. Micky found that Moose would adapt her behavior based on her needs—sleeping close to her head when she felt unwell, showing an incredible bond and understanding. WATCH BELOW

Currently, Moose is in the process of earning her OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) certificates, and Micky is optimistic that she will become a fantastic therapy dog. Their bond has grown strong over the past year and a half, and together, they embark on wonderful adventures every day.

Moose’s transformation from a shelter dog with a grim future to a beloved family member and potential therapy dog illustrates the profound impact of giving animals a chance and the extraordinary results that can follow. WATCH BELOW
