Hope For Paws often engages in challenging rescue missions, but this particular one is among the most difficult the organization has ever undertaken.
Late at night, they received an urgent email about faint kitten sounds coming from a homeowner’s wall. Eldad, the founder, and rescuers Loreta and JoAnn immediately headed out to investigate. Upon arrival, they learned that the desperate cries had stopped eight hours prior, raising concerns that the kittens might not be alive. WATCH VIDEO BELOW
“After eight hours without making a sound, I feared they had already passed away,” Eldad said.
The situation was alarming, and they had to ask the homeowner for permission to cut a hole in the wall. Geared up with masks and flashlights, the rescuers began poking holes in the wall, sharing stories to lighten the mood. Just as they were about to leave empty-handed, Loreta noticed something moving: the kittens were alive! WATCH VIDEO BELOW
They managed to pull out two small kittens, about two weeks old. The circumstances of how they ended up inside the wall were unclear, but the rescuers speculated that they had fallen from the attic and that the mom had relocated them but was never seen again.
Once safely out, JoAnn gave them sugar water to raise their glucose levels, and her care helped keep the kittens alive. “She became their mom, and for the next eight weeks, she bottle-fed them, kept them clean and warm,” the organization noted. The female kitten was named Blondie, and the male was named Dagwood. The Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats agreed to foster them and find them a forever home. WATCH VIDEO BELOW
