Abandoned Time and Again, This Pup’s Fate Changed with One Life-Altering Encounter

Dog abandonment is a more common issue than many realize, and its effects on pups are often invisible. Most dogs do not want to go from one home to another; the constant upheaval can take a significant toll on their well-being. Unfortunately, this complex problem is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.

Lola is a perfect example of this struggle. After being rehomed multiple times, she found herself on the streets of Washington, with no one to care for her. While someone reported her and contacted a shelter for help, she still needed more than just basic assistance. WATCH VIDEO BELOW

Fortuitously, a woman named Courtney saw Lola’s picture and decided to visit her at the shelter. When she arrived, she was struck by Lola’s friendliness and positivity, as if the pup sensed that she was about to find her forever home. Courtney shared, “She walked into the house like she owned the place. She climbed up on the couch and hasn’t left it much since.”

It seemed almost certain that Lola would thrive in her new home. She loved to relax, but when it was feeding time, she would muster the energy to get up and eat. Initially, Courtney noticed that Lola seemed to bond more with her partner, but their relationship grew stronger over time. Courtney remarked, “I’m not sure what her full story is, but she was spayed, had a microchip, and some training. She also has her share of quirks, like any dog.” WATCH VIDEO BELOW

One of her quirks is a strong aversion to cars; her owner always has to hold her leash tightly to prevent her from chasing after them. Courtney describes Lola as a mix of part Pitbull, part therapist, and a bit of a drama queen. As Lola began to gain weight, her owners put her on a diet to help her return to a healthier size. “She wants to go for walks, but half a mile in, she’s done. It’s like trying to pull a boulder with a rope,” Courtney noted.

Courtney has a special affection for Pitbulls, feeling they are often undervalued. Having worked in veterinary medicine, she frequently found herself drawn to them as her favorite patients. She humorously adds, “Lola acts like we should be catering to her every need. It’s almost as if she thinks she’s Beyoncé, but really, it’s all about Lola.” It’s heartwarming to know that this sweet dog has finally found her happy ending, living with someone who will always cherish and care for her.
