Boy Promises to Water Old Lady’s Plants after She Moves to Nursing Home, Finds Note Left in Soil – Story of the Day

When Daniel saw his older neighbor arguing with her son about her plants, he felt compelled to help. He offered to water her garden, and not long after, he stumbled upon a buried note that would change everything in a surprising way. I can’t believe you’re giving me this attitude when I came to help you move!” Arnold shouted before storming off to his car. Mrs. Carrino, clearly upset, finally noticed Daniel standing with his bike. “Oh dear, what are you doing here? Do I know you?” she asked. “I live two houses down. I’m Daniel, Caroline’s son,” he replied, pointing to his house. “I heard the yelling and got worried. Are you alright, Mrs. Carrino?”

“I remember you now! It’s nice to see you. Don’t worry about that. It was just my son being a brat,” she said with a sigh. “Why is he acting like that?” Daniel inquired. “Well, I’m moving to a nursing home, and I asked him to come and help. But all he wants is the house, which he plans to sell. I’ve worked hard for this place, and as long as I’m alive, I’m not selling it,” she explained. “He made a scene when I simply asked him to water my plants. “I can do that,” Daniel offered with a shrug. “Do what?” she asked, surprised. “Water your plants.” “I can’t pay you, dear,” Mrs. Carrino said apologetically. “I know. I live close by. It’s not a problem,” Daniel insisted, and she smiled brightly at him. A few days later, after Mrs. Carrino moved to a nursing home in Florida, Daniel kept his promise and visited her home almost every day to water her plants. He soon developed a love for gardening and would often ask her for advice on new plants.

“Of course! And make sure to watch out for the soil,” she said playfully, leaving Daniel curious about her cheeky tone. As he bought new plants to add to the garden, Daniel dreamed of starting a gardening business to ease his family’s financial struggles. His mother worked multiple jobs just to make ends meet, but gardening became a welcome escape for him. He felt a sense of fulfillment with each new plant he nurtured.

One day, while digging a spot for some azaleas he had recently purchased, Daniel heard a metallic sound. Startled, he dropped his shovel and began to dig with his hands, uncovering a mason jar with a metal lid. Inside, he found a note.

“Dear Daniel! Thank you for your help. This house is now yours! Go inside and find all the paperwork. You and your family can move in whenever you want!”

In disbelief, Daniel rushed inside using the key Mrs. Carrino had left him. On the kitchen counter, he found the title to the house. Although much of it was confusing, he clearly saw his name at the bottom.

Still in shock, he called Mrs. Carrino, who confirmed everything. “You’ll need to sign it to complete the transfer, but I wanted you to find the note first!” she explained.

His mother couldn’t believe the news. They could finally move into the house and stop paying rent, with no mortgage to worry about. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Daniel’s family began visiting Mrs. Carrino regularly, seeing her as a beloved grandmother.
