When Winnie was found in a bin, discarded like trash, all she felt was heartbreak. A compassionate passerby witnessed this act of cruelty and quickly sprang into action. It was shocking to think someone could abandon an eight-week-old puppy. Winnie was still a tiny baby in need of care and love, yet she had been left to fight for her life. The passerby rushed her to the vet, who then transferred her to The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home.
Sadly, the examination revealed that Winnie had congenital elbow dislocation with fusion, meaning her elbow was fused at an angle, preventing her from using her front leg. Rescuers believed this condition was the main reason she had been abandoned. “It’s likely her previous owner couldn’t afford her care and chose to leave her when she needed help,” they noted in a Facebook post. After receiving initial treatment, this brave girl found a loving foster home with Ebony Poole, a senior animal care assistant at the rescue. Winnie received regular hydrotherapy and physiotherapy, which helped her progress. With her foster mom’s support, she began to open up and show her true personality.

The caregivers hope to find a suitable forever home for Winnie, ideally with someone who has veterinary or rehabilitation experience. “We’re looking for the perfect home where Winnie can continue to receive love and care, and enjoy the best life possible after her rough start,” the organization stated on their website.
