The Platteville Police Department (PPD) recently shared a post about an abandoned dog in their city. While it’s not uncommon for them to respond to calls about loose animals, this case was different: the dog was found with a handwritten note attached to her collar.
When the police officer arrived at Mound View Park and Campground, where a resident had spotted the loose dog, the female pup immediately jumped into the police car. “This sweet girl came right over to the officer and jumped in the squad,” the Facebook post stated. CONTINUE BELOW
Upon closer examination, the officer noticed something unusual about her pink collar. “Upon further inspection, the officer discovered a note attached to the collar,” the post added. The note read: “Please help.
Take me to a shelter. My name is LOLA.” Reading the note and looking into the dog’s soulful eyes, the officer felt a deep sadness. Lola had clearly been abandoned by her owners, which is illegal under municipal ordinance in Platteville. CONTINUE BELOW
The police department sought the public’s assistance in finding Lola’s original owners, stating, “We would like to speak with them. Thank you in advance.” Lola’s story captured the public’s attention, sparking curiosity about what had happened to her and why someone would abandon her in such a manner.
While the PPD investigated her background, Lola was transferred to Platteville Veterinary Clinic, which actively sought her forever home. Fortunately, it didn’t take long—just a week later, this precious girl was adopted! CONTINUE BELOW
Both the PPD and the veterinary clinic updated the public, announcing that Lola was on her way to a wonderful new home. Sweet Lola, we wish you nothing but happiness in your new life, and may you never be abandoned again. At the time of writing, no further information regarding the investigation into Lola’s previous owner has been released.
