Unfortunately, we are also capable of terrible actions that can overshadow the positive. Many dogs living on the streets suffer from neglect and abuse, despite not deserving such treatment. Arty, a senior dog, was often mocked by strangers who saw him as “ugly and old,” making his situation even more desperate. However, all he needed was one compassionate person to change his life.
When rescuer Arturo Flores learned about Arty, who was injured and living on the streets of California, he quickly drove to the location. Shivering and fearful, Arty had been lying there for three days, suffering in silence. It was heartbreaking to think that no one had offered help. After carefully examining him, Arturo took Arty to a shelter.
The vet determined that surgery was necessary for his broken leg, but first, they needed to conduct bloodwork to assess the risks due to his age. Meanwhile, the rescuers gave Arty a soothing bath and cleaned him up. Although he seemed confused, they offered him painkillers and fitted him with a cast to alleviate his discomfort. While Arty is doing better, his healing process will take time. He appeared somewhat depressed, leaving his rescuers to wonder about his past. It’s likely he was abandoned or abused, but there was no way to confirm this.
What matters now is that Arty is in caring hands. His rescuers are committed to ensuring he spends his life with someone who will treat him with love and respect.
