Spongy bump on head disease, also known as “spongiform encephalopathy,” refers to a group of neurological disorders characterized by the formation of sponge-like lesions in the brain. These conditions can affect various species, including humans and animals, and are often caused by misfolded proteins called prions.
In humans, a notable example is Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), which leads to rapid cognitive decline, behavioral changes, and motor dysfunction. Symptoms may include memory loss, personality shifts, and physical coordination issues.
