Hearing loud screams in the middle of the night isn’t exactly pleasant, but for one compassionate woman, fear wasn’t an option. Kaitlyn, a rescuer from Adams County Pet Rescue in Othello, Washington, sprang into action! Right away, she knew the sounds weren’t human, but it took a closer look under her car to discover the source.
It was already 11 P.M., and Kaitlyn was on her way home after letting her dogs out for a potty break when she heard the heartbreaking cries from beneath her vehicle. When she peered underneath, she was stopped in her tracks by an extraordinary sight. There, hiding in the darkness, were two sparkling, fearful eyes staring back at her. The scared pup had tucked herself under the car, hoping to remain hidden. CONTINUE BELOW
The problem was, this frightened dog was difficult to reach! Kaitlyn never imagined that this rescue would turn into such an adventure. Instead of a simple call to the dog, things escalated quickly. “The pup darted out from under the car with Kaitlyn right behind her. She had to make quick decisions to ensure the dog didn’t run off into the night,” the rescue reported.
Fortunately, the pup didn’t flee into the fields; instead, she made several circles around Kaitlyn’s yard. Though visibly scared and traumatized, she refused to leave this newfound “fenced refuge.” During the rescue, Kaitlyn lost her sandals and continued running barefoot. Soon, she gathered a small crew to help corner the puppy safely, leading to a successful outcome. “When Kaitlyn calls at 11 P.M., I know something interesting is happening, and I better answer. When she’s breathless, I know it’s going to be exciting, and it certainly was,” the Washington-based rescue wrote in a Facebook post. CONTINUE BELOW
The dog was safely transferred to the facility, where she received further care. Despite her traumatic past, the dog, named Primavera, quickly began to come out of her shell! Thanks to the dedicated efforts of ACPR, she soon found a temporary foster home and transformed into a brand-new dog. With her foster mom, Tammy, Primavera is learning what it means to be loved. No longer scared, she has become a sociable and friendly dog who enjoys meeting new people.
Tammy has made sure to teach Primavera all about unconditional love, and the pup has responded beautifully. In addition to enjoying playtime with balls and carrying her toys around, Primavera loves being around people. CONTINUE BELOW
“She enjoys chasing balls, chewing on toys, carrying her stuffies, and hanging out in the backyard. She’s very social now and wants to be where the people are,” the ACPR team shared on Facebook.
Primavera is still learning, but there’s no doubt she’ll make an excellent companion. When the time is right, she’ll be ready to find her forever family, eager for new adventures and friendships.
After everything she’s been through, that’s the least she deserves!
