Dog Confused About Being Dumped In A Ditch, Decides To Trust Humans Again

For many days, a tiny puppy wondered why someone would heartlessly dump her in a ditch. She was scared, hungry, and in pain, slowly losing all hope. “Why did you get me if you weren’t going to love me? Why am I hungry? Why am I in a ditch? Why is everything hurting?”

With so many unanswered questions, she felt despair, but that didn’t matter anymore. She decided to trust a human voice one last time and was thankfully rewarded with love—the kind that would never turn its back on her. WATCH VIDEO BELOW

The founder of a North Carolina-based rescue, “Ruby and Laurel Animal Rescue, Inc.,” was walking down the road when she spotted a tiny white head poking out of the ditch. She couldn’t believe her eyes. As she crouched down, a terrible smell from the puppy’s matted skin hit her. The poor puppy needed help desperately, and it was nothing short of a miracle that it was she, the founder of an animal shelter, who found her.

“This baby has seen the worst of humans, but still crawled out of the ditch and into my arms. She goes in first thing tomorrow for medical treatment and vaccines,” Margaret Hamilton, Founder and Executive Director, shared on TikTok. The puppy was in so much pain from her rough start in life, but she still found the strength to crawl into the arms of her rescuer. WATCH VIDEO BELOW

Margaret brought the little puppy home for the night, trimmed her overgrown nails, and gave her a medicated bath. The pup was sunburned on top of her demodectic mange, with red and painful skin. The next morning, Maggie took her to the vet, who confirmed she was heartworm-negative and approximately three years old but needed treatment for her ringworm and mange.

In just two days after her rescue, Slurpee changed dramatically. Her little personality blossomed, and she turned into the happiest little girl ever. “Slurpee is feeling better by the day, and we are already seeing improvements in her skin condition. Demodectic mange looks scary but is not contagious,” Maggie posted on TikTok. In a couple of weeks, she should be completely healthy and ready to forget the ditch where she was abandoned. Better days are ahead for you, sweet girl. WATCH VIDEO BELOW
