Every time I come across a story about a sweet mama dog and her puppies, I’m reminded of how caring dogs are and how much they do to protect their young. They truly are some of the most empathetic animals in the world, and we often don’t appreciate this enough.
In this story, we focus on a mama dog who was doing everything she could to help her puppy have a normal life. When a group of girls noticed the struggling duo, they couldn’t just sit back and do nothing. Seeing how malnourished and sad they looked was enough to break anyone’s heart. The kind girls offered them food and water, and the mama dog was grateful for the kindness. She ate very little, leaving most of it for her puppy, as any caring mother would. With the immediate crisis averted, the girls called for rescuers.
Although the rescuers were busy and arrived later that day, they were surprised to see that the girls had stayed with the dogs the whole time. The rescuers examined the dogs and noticed that the puppy had some health issues. The mama dog was sleeping, likely due to exhaustion. The rescuers gently woke her and placed her in the vehicle. At the vet, they discovered that both the mama and her puppy had Ehrlichia, a parasitic infection. They were anemic and had infected skin. The vets were puzzled as to why she only had one puppy. To assist with their treatment, the two were separated for a while. This didn’t help the mama feel at ease, as she worried constantly about her puppy. When they were reunited, her happiness was evident, and she immediately returned to her nurturing role, wanting nothing more than to spend time with her baby.
Remarkably, both made significant progress in their recovery and were almost completely healthy. Their rescuers named them Ala and Mafa. When discussing potential homes, the kind people decided they would only accept offers if both were adopted together; they didn’t want to separate them. Ultimately, the rescuers decided to adopt both Ala and Mafa themselves, as they had grown to love them and felt it was the best decision for everyone. WATCH VIDEO BELOW
